Reading at the

End of the World?

Reading at the End of the World (REW Library) is a banned book and free library striving to keep banned books accessible. Through donations, events, and partnerships, REW Library intends to highlight the power of access to information.

Part of REW Library’s efforts include supporting families around the country struggling to access books and other crucial learning materials, despite the large wave of impending censorship, banning, and reduced funding to public and school libraries.

Do you know students, families, or freedom to read organizations who are struggling to access books due to bans, censorship, or loss of funding at local libraries? Encourage them to submit a book wishlist to REWLibrary@gmail.com

How Did REW Library Start?

Following the 2024 presidential election, Sierra (pictured above), started buying banned books from local bookstores.

At the beginning of 2025, they reach out to Freedom to Read organizations in Texas, Florida, and Iowa, seeking donation needs. Shortly after, Sierra begins building additional partnerships with local community, businesses, and bookstores in Southern Maine to host banned book drives and other book-focused events. Thus, Reading at the End of the World was founded as a banned book and free library organization.

As Reading at the End of the World continues to grow, so does the library team. If you’d like to get involved, fill out this form.

Thank you for being a part of the future we’re building together.
